As Associate Director and Head of Research and Academic Services in the Library, my role entails to lead in the development and delivery of innovative, effective, relevant, and cost-efficient services to support learning and teaching, open research, scholarly communication, and research data management. Responsible for the University’s Open Research strategy, ensuring alignment with funder and Research England requirements while advocating for the broader advantages of Open Research. As a member of the Library Management Team, work across the service to deliver strategic and operational plans and projects.Lead a dedicated team in the provision of scholarly communication services, including managing the institutional repository, overseeing central funds for Author Publication Charges (institutional, UKRI, and Wellcome Trust) and supporting research data management. Collaborate closely with Research Services, Researcher Development (Doctoral College), Exeter IT, and the University’s research community.

Championed Open Access across 15 faculties and 4 campuses at the University and delivered several joint initiatives fostering collaboration across campus. Developed effective communication plans, organized events, and created essential Scholarly Communication tools and services. Advocated for the university’s Open Access Policy, Research Impact initiatives, and Institutional Repository strategy, collaborating with Libraries and the Research Office. Led a process of correcting authors and institutional profiles for international Rankings purposes. Additionally, delivered an implementation plan of a Current Research Information System (CRIS).

Porto Area, Portugal

Led a cross-functional Library team in promoting Open Science and Open Access (OA) principles. Developed and executed strategies, organized impactful events, and delivered tailored services to researchers across 8 faculties. Actively engaged in national OA initiatives and played a key role in annual OA Week activities. Headed the Library’s training program, providing essential skills in Scholarly Communication to researchers and PhD candidates. Managed the institutional repository, overseeing scientific publications and generating bibliometric reports for research evaluation. Led special collections promotion in the research community.
