Sofi Vargas Aguayo (she/they) was born and raised in the Wallmapu, also known as Chilean territory. She graduated from UWC Maastricht in 2019 and is now a student of Arts and Sciences at Quest University Canada, where she lives, plays and studies in the unceded territories of the Sḵwxwú7mesh Nation. Education and Diversity are her passions. She spends her time outside classes as a Coordinator of Racial Justice and Educational content creator for different NGOs. She enjoys taking pictures, rock climbing and watching videos. She is comfortable having conversations in both English and Spanish. Sofia started her career as an activist when she was 14 years old in Santiago de Chile. She started working with Amnesty International Chile as one of the project "It's My Body," participant of multiple work-teams in the section and youth representative in the Board of Directors. Alongside the human rights activism for Amnesty, she was part of the Educational program of the Chilean Supreme Court in the project "Resolución Pacífica de Conflictos." She represented Amnesty Chile on multiple occasions as the International Conference on Human Rights Education (ICHRE) and was nominated to the International Children's Peace Prize in 2017 for her work in Human Rights Education. She stills a passionate activist and hopes to continue to work towards a more justice world in the future.
