• Observed Texas Criminal Procedures and Municipal Court procedures in arraignments and specialty court settings covering environmental crimes, assaults, and animal-related crimes. • Attended non-jury trial proceedings and gained insight into trial court procedures • Observed the Magistration Process for crimes ranging from class C misdemeanors to first-degree felonies. Met with the Assistant District Attorney during the review of the officer’s complaint and continued to the Magistrate’s review of the complaint, determination of probable cause, and notification of rights and charges to the arrested person prior to bond assessment. Reviewed submitted search and blood warrants with the Magistrate. • Assisted the administrative support team for the Municipal Court Clerk’s office with administrative tasks such as research, event planning, and preparations for Municipal Courts Week.• Accompanied the Development Services manager on a Dangerous Assessment Response Team excursion.
