During two years, I have been working in Australia under a Working Holiday Visa. I worked extensively in the hospitality industry, where I realized the amount of waste we thrown away when products didn’t meet the companies’ standards, even though they were still in good conditions. I developed a great commitment towards tackling the food-waste issue and decided to work on making profitable products out of waste.I also worked in a supplement and vitamins production line, where I had to perform complex calibrations, identify and implement corrective actions or process improvements in accordance with cGMP requirements. Both industries made me develop a strong focus on customers, team leadership and effective written and verbal communication skills.I also travelled around Europe and Asia, where I got involved with waste treatment practices and legislation.

Research scheme:Our team analyzed meat and meat products in processed foods such as hamburgers and sausages. I was responsible of using hi-efficient analitical instruments, techniques and software to carry out these analysis, looking for carcinogenic compounds that could be generated after grilling or overcooking those products on an open flame with charcoal, a common practice in Argentina. We provided alternative methods and recommendations to the food industry for cooking processed meats in order to guarantee and improve food safety. Key Responsibilities: Responsible of using HPLC and GC instruments, techniques and software to carry out analysis of PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) on meat and meat products such as hamburgers and sausages. (TotalChrom Software for Perkin Elmer equipment. LabSolution for Shimadzu equipment.) Preparing lab material and utilization of materials for Extraction and quantification of PAHs.Analyzing and interpreting data; Reporting and presenting results. Developing new analytical methods depending on the analyte and matrix. Quality assurance due to the responsibility of analyzing human consumption products. Complementary chemical test made previous chromatography analysis: density, determination of the moisture content, net weight.Analyze products under different temperature and humidity conditions to evaluate the chemical stability of drugs within the products.Key Achievements: Reports submitted on time and form.
