About Sofia Carvalho

A curious mind turned UX Designer and Researcher, Sofia has hoarded long hours of experience looking for answers and creating solutions capable of including and empowering designers and end-users to make decisions about themselves and the world. At With Company, she leads the digital and service design unit.From traditional digital experiences to making technology accessible for blind people, designing smart home appliances for Samsung globally, and pushing education or public services forward — she always aims to create intuitive pieces from a humane perspective, not just a human one, assessing and measuring our steps along the way.She has worked in and with different geographies and cultures — Portugal, Sweden, Silicon Valley, Macau and Korea — which helped her develop the right balance between intuitive and rational approaches to problem-solving. With a passion for learning and teaching, Sofia found her way into education by mentoring the next generation of UX Designers and working as UX Advisor for startups. Additionally, she designed and facilitated workshops and presented talks at both local and international stages.In 2023, Sofia won the Portuguese Women in Tech Award for the Design (UX/UI) Category.
