Supervise, coordinate and monitor the plant loss control programmes such as accident prevention, training and inspection programmes.•Assist in the formulation and development of plant safety programmes. This includes ensuring the availability of safety manuals, hazardous area instructions, safety materials, safety publications and posters.•Bring to the attention of the supervisor unsafe working practices and conditions and recommends improvements.•Develop and conduct safety training programmes which include supervising practical exercises.• Develop and coordinates orientation programmes aimed at promoting accident prevention among personnel, supervise specific emergency drills for personnel in assigned area, and assess programme effectiveness.Arrange for adequate training aids.•Carry out monthly safety inspection of all areas. Identify potential hazards, recommend solutions, prepare action plans and follow up on implementation, evaluate results and report findings to supervisors.Motivate departmental supervisors to achieve excellence in safety and loss prevention.•Ensure that all safety equipment and facilities are kept in best working condition, maintaining efficient record keeping systems for all equipment, and recommend replacement if needed Carry out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as, spot-auditing and inspection of work activities in assigned area, maintaining awareness of developments the field• Direct the implementation of the “permit to work” system. Includes reviewing permits issued by operations personnel, ensuring that proper measures are taken prior to commencement of work.Ensures all work areas are safe for required work through visits to work sites
