Worked on two deliverables that will be utilized by the Region 8 Epidemiology Team: 1. COVID-19 Data Tables 2. School Outbreak and Education Letters. Utilized Epidemiology skills to organize and visualize Texas Public Health Region 8 COVID-19 data. Created a collection of School Outbreak letters for use by the epidemiology team. Assisted with Enteric Investigation calls, observed TB nursing team, attended monthly and weekly Epidemology and Health-Care Associated Infection Meetings.

Worked in the biology lab on fruit fly neurodegeneration. Obtained and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data, engaged in informed conversations about fruit fly neurodegeneration.

As an intern for Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) I was able to develop a deeper understanding of how the MIECHV grant helps programs like NFP in communities like Bexar County. I also gained an understanding of how organizations like Catholic Charities and United Way influence the implementation of programs like NFP. I was also able to attend nurse home home visits where I observed how NFP has improved pregnancy outcomes as well as maternal and infant health outcomes. Through this program I observed the differing needs of mothers and babies in the San Antonio/Bexar County area, and I was able to see how programs like NFP help to meet these needs by providing holistic and competent care.
