As a Board Member at MiGreat I uphold the core values of the foundation, focus on the organization of demonstrations and general taks within the foundation. With MiGreat we provide emergency aid to refugees and other migrants in Sarajevo, Bosnia and we advocate for safe migration. Our mission is divided into three goals:1. Provide necessary assistance to migrants. Every human has a right to sufficient food, clothes, shelter, medical and psychological care, regardless of the legal situation this person has in the country. We currently support Fresh Response in Sarajevo to make sure 2. End the War on Migration. We believe in less walls, less violent border police and no more disencouragement policies. Not only are they ineffective and expensive, but also extremely harmful. Migration needs to be approached as a fact of life and needs to be regulated, but not prevented at any cost. Most importantly, institutionalized violence against migrants needs to end.3. Provide opportunities for (prospective) migrants, including opportunities for refugees and migrants alike to apply for visa in home or host countries, and abolish restricted access to labour, education and housing both for regular and irregular migrants to secure long term independence.

As a social worker at the Landelijke Vreemdelingen Voorziening at the Nico Adriaans Stichting I provide various types of guidance and supervision for undocumented migrants in Rotterdam. This includes social guidance, living supervision and legal help.

By coordinating WelnU in Utrecht, taking the initial lead in Rotterdam and Amsterdam and founding Stichting WelnU I am highly involved in all coordinating tasks such as developing our website, day to day tasks regarding volunteers and students and keeping a general overview of our 9 language cafes in these three cities which weekly provide lessons to around 160 students. WelnU is an organization entirely run by volunteers who provides Dutch language lessons for refugees. We believe that integration should start on the first day, and that’s not possible without language and social interactions People of all nationalities, with different backgrounds and levels, from illiterates to the ones who are already reasonably good at Dutch, get Dutch lessons from volunteers in small groups at WelnU. We work with a large number of volunteers. As a result of this, our lessons are personal and students can express their difficulties regarding Dutch easily. With our extensive lesson material and other resources students progress fast. From the beginning of 2015 we have been active in Utrecht. Firstly with language lessons in de former emergency shelter and now in restaurant Kantien and Buurtcentrum de Jager. Starting 2019 we are also starting the language lessons in Rotterdam in de Kaapse Maria with a new team and in Amsterdam and the Wereldhuis.
