The cluster organisation Flanders Biobased Valley (FBBV) is a non-profit organisation supporting the development of biobased activities and resulting economic growth in the region of Flanders, Belgium. It was founded in 2005 as a joint initiative of Ghent University, the City of Ghent, the Port of Ghent, the Development Agency East-Flanders and a number of industrial companies related to the Ghent region that are active in the fields of generation, distribution, storage and use of biobased products and bio-energy. FBBV is the motor for the regional development of the biobased economy by creating synergy between the partners, starting up collaborative projects in the field of Research & Development, arguing for structural measures and policy, and by communicating towards the general public. One of the main merits of FBBV is the realisation of the biorefinery cluster at the Rodenhuizedok, representing the largest integrated production site for bio-energy in Europe. Inspired by this biorefinery cluster we are now aiming at building a new industry cluster based on the valorisation of waste streams and waste gases through gas fermentation technology.For more info see www.fbbv.org
