This student assistant job consisted of supporting both the laboratory and administration team and I was working on average 15 hours a week. The hours were balanced between small daily office tasks, preparing laboratory equipment, registering chemicals, ensuring researchers were following good laboratory practice, and supporting researchers and PhD students in laboratory experiments as well as many other tasks. During the pandemic, the health and safety of the center was also part of my responsibility by taking disinfection rounds daily, filling up sanitizer, and relaying the up-to-date regulations. As part of the research community, the Centre also held seminars, conferences and summer schools where I supported in the organization and execution the events. As part of DTU the Research Centre also took part in events promoting science to high school students, where I acted as a representative for student life and females in science at DTU. The wide-ranging amount of different tasks gave me an opportunity to practice time management, organization of a busy work day and taking initiative. The work environment in the department encouraged proactivity and the power of independence and teamwork simultaneously. I experienced the strength of good leadership, friendship in- and outside work hours and embracing multiculturalism.

I was a certified lifeguard with 3 years of experience where I maintained the pool and changing room areas and ensured safety. I enforced pool regulation and water safety policies in order to prevent swimmers from drowning and other injuries and also upheld maintenance and cleanliness standards in the changing room and pool area. I obtained yearly certification in CPR and first aid.
