“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the disease of loneliness can be cured.” - Kurt VonnegutI have a deep commitment to advocating for accessible, equitable, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare. I first gained experience in community organizing when I founded and led the grassroots activist organization Let’s Talk: Women Against Sexual Assault with a small group of peers. Advocating for community education and resources for survivors of sexual violence, we organized events, fundraised, and met with representatives from the local school board and law enforcement– leading to an updated sex education curriculum and more comprehensive training for police handling of sexual assault cases. In 2022, I joined the Bellingham organization Whatcom Family & Community Network as the program coordinator for the Youth Suicide Prevention program, as well as the developer and facilitator of the Trusted Adult Workshop program. In this role, I provided comprehensive community education around suicide prevention and mental wellbeing, and prioritized fostering self-advocacy and leadership skills in youth through opportunities for activism and community involvement. Outside of work you will likely find me picking up yet another new hobby to keep my hands busy: drawing, writing, knitting, photography, miniature model making, collaging, sewing, sudoku, pottery, bookbinding, you name it, I've almost certainly gone through a phase where it was all I thought about! I love reading classic lit, listening to all genres of music (yes, even country!), going for long, aimless walks, snuggling with my cat, and spending time with my partner, Jessica. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to connect, or just want to say hi!
