About Sofiya Sapeha
I am currently working as an Parliamentary Affairs Advisor in the Senate of Canada. My long-term career interests are concentrated in policy analysis and innovation, as well as diplomacy and foreign affairs.I am passionate about politics and the legislative process, and have had the opportunity to work in several roles both in the public service and on Parliament Hill. I have been fortunate to gain an in-depth understanding of the Canadian political process, and have had a front row seat to many historic events. I’ve also developed a thorough background in public administration and economics through my studies at the University of Ottawa.Another field I am interested in is education, and more specifically working with children. In 2018 and 2019 I had the opportunity to volunteer in Ukraine, and helped Ukrainian children between the ages of 8 and 16 break their language barriers with regards to the English language. As well, I taught Ukrainian at a language school in Ottawa for over 5 years, enabling children to maintain their heritage language and learn more about their culture. I now teach Ukrainian dance at the Ottawa Ukrainian School of Dance, where I also dance with the Svitanok ensemble.
