This position led to work with a wide variety of organizations with very different needs. It was thanks to my time at FlipSide that I was able to engage with a wide diversity of needs. We would take clients from small shops wanting web design to the cloud of day: corporate intranets and office automation. We did cloud before it was called the cloud. Ever try writing a scalable web service in 2003 off of SOAP, ASP without .NET and ODBC connection to client's Microsoft Access database? Yech. How about decoding Excel files to be transformed into a 'USDA standard floppy disk' format (ha!!) from the early days. Proprietary files didn't use to be so commonly in developer-friendly XML! That was my favorite, most fantastic feat of parsing to date, over a decade ago.Working with such a variety of concerns and seeing poor practices in large organizations taught me deep insight into direction technology needs to head. Got a great first taste of SLAs and taking best practices out of the tech lab and into the boardroom.
