As an undergraduate researcher in Professor John Rogers' research group, I am involved in the microfabrication of thin, adhesive epidermal electronic devices for wound monitoring. I utilize various instruments, including MARCH Reactive Ion Etcher and the Mask Aligner, and I am familiar with working in the cleanroom.

I participated in the Student Inquiry and Research program in my high school, through which I was able to work closely with an esteemed professor of pediatrics and faculty director of genomics in the Human Genetics lab. My research focused on examining a section of the human genome in the Chicagoan African American population for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that could serve as potential markers for colorectal cancer. I applied various genetic analysis techniques to locate three SNPs. I then performed statistical analyses to test their frequency in 368 DNA samples from colorectal cancer patients, which I had amplified through PCR. I also had the opportunity to present this research at the International Student Science Fair in 2012.
