As an award-winning independent filmmaker, I specialize in socially engaged storytelling, using cinema to shed light on marginalized communities and global issues. My works, including The Ice Cream Sellers, A Passagem, and Songs from Another Eden, have received critical acclaim and have been showcased at international festivals, universities, and institutions worldwide.Beyond filmmaking, I am passionate about education and have delivered masterclasses on socially engaged filmmaking at prestigious universities such as Durham University (UK), the University of Oregon (USA), and the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. My goal is to inspire the next generation of storytellers to use film as a tool for advocacy and change.I received the Best Feature Documentary Film Award from the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal (Canada) in 2021 for my film The Ice Cream Sellers and the Best Feature Documentary Film Award (Audience Choice) from the Tasveer South Asian Film Festival (Seattle, USA).Additionally, I was honored with the Best Film Award from Lusófona University (Lisbon) in 2015 for my film A Passagem (2014). That same year, I received the Special Jury Award at the Encontros Internacionais de Cinema de Viena Film Festival in Portugal.
