I provided genetic counselling to families in pediatric neurogenetic and general genetics clinics. This included a weekly autism clinic, monthly neuromuscular and Down syndrome clinics, and semi-annual multidisciplinary Friedreich ataxia clinic. My research involvement included enrolling families into Canada-wide whole exome research through CareforRare.

Rochester, New York Area

This position allowed me to establish the first adult Neurogenetics clinic, Child Neurogenetics Consultation service, and multidisciplinary Hereditary Ataxia program in the Rochester area. I also provided my services in a pre-symptomatic Huntington Disease clinic at an HD Center of Excellence and Cystic Fibrosis Newborn Screening Program while also serving.

I obtained family histories from potential participants, entered the medical and family histories into the familial database, trained department staff on the use of databases, and supported the epidemiology department by contacting potential participants, preparing information packages, and following up with results.

I taught complex concepts in biology and engineering to children in Grades 3 and 4 via short presentations and hands-on activities.
