The CCG is responsible for commissioning healthcare for almost 1 million people Mental Health and Learning Disabilites are a large part of the care need of the population It is my privalege to be able to serve the people of Derbyshire in this way.

Developed a team of 8 GPs into Suicide Prevention Trainers to engage with and train the Primary Care Workforce throughout Derbyshire We have trained over 1000 primary care workers and GPs 2017 using 4 Mental Health -Connecting with People Materials The programme was a success due in large part to a vibrant peer to peer training model and was runner up at the 2019 HSJ Award for Innovation in Primary Care.

Hardwick CCG is a wonderful small CCG covering approximately 100,000 patients in North-East Derbyshire. It is therefore my privilege to have recently been appointed as the Mental Health Clinical Lead.My role is to support the mental health commissioning team and to champion the better provision of mental health services across the county by working closely with the excellent mental health clinical leads of Southern Derbyshire CCG, North Derbyshire CCG and Erewash CCG. Top of my list of priorities will be to achieve Parity of Esteem across the county and to enhance the development of integrated and primary care mental health services. I believe the key to better job satisfaction and better care and outcomes lies in the relationships between all those in the Patient & Carer Groups, the NHS, Social Care, Third Sector, Politicians and the Media. As regards health and social care professionals I passionately believe that we joined up to do a good and caring job and so need the artificial non sensical barriers that compromise us on a daily basis to be eliminated. The leaderships role is to empower delivery of patient centred real care (the patients know what is ''real'') and to align each organisation to that aim. The well-being of the workforce, the moral and culture of the organisation and the reputation and future of the health service depends on it. Show less

The role is clinical leadership for mental health on the AVDD LCG which is part of the SDCCG. There are 20 practices spread over a wide area with Ashbourne to the west, Belper and Duffield to the south, Wirksworth to the north and Heanor and Somercotes to the east. The population is mixed with affluent areas as well as plenty of folk at risk of social isolation and rural poverty.

Enjoying working part time in a variety of GP practices in Derbyshire, urban and rural but mostly in the Amber Valley and Derbyshire Dales where I live. I also work as a sessional GP in HMPs. I value the personal and trusted relationship which is virtually uniquely the privilege of the family doctor as it encompasses all aspects of the persons life from birth to death and covers their family too. I am passionate about the role of the Primary Health Care Team and wish to see this extended to include mental health and social care and to be linked into communities and neighbourhoods through carer groups and voluntary organisations. I pray that we will not lose the role of the General Practitioner as it is the cornerstone of why the UK has the worlds leading primary care service in the UK.I am passionate about the health of the NHS and Social Care workforce as I fear we have been better at looking after the health and wellbeing of our patients than we are at looking after ourselves and our colleagues. I support a variety of initiatives and campaigns to this end.I hope to see the challenges of the future be met by transforming the NHS from a National Health Service into a National Health Society.
