Manages a team of 5-8 Visa Assistants in the complex task of processing the full-range of non-immigrant visas for Argentine citizens and third country nationals. Works with minimal supervision from the Visa Chief or Deputy Visa Chief and only refers unusual, complex, or questionable cases to them or when a matter exceeds the authority granted to local staff by Consular Affairs and DOS regulations. Has detailed knowledge of the Foreign Affairs Manual, Immigration and Nationality Act, regulations and procedures, and the unit's standard operating procedures.

Processing immigrant and non-immigrant visas by receiving, screening, identifying and classifying; printing, sticking, quality controlling and returning visaed passports and related documents in a high-volume operation; providing non-immigrant visa information to the public and completing general visa-related clerical duties. Providing assistance to the Protocol and cultural affairs offices during special events held at the Ambassador’s Residence such as Election day, 4th of July, congressional delegations and VIP visits from US government officials.

An SIV-IV assistant is in charge of receiving and screening Immigrant, Special Immigrant, and Diversity Visa applications and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy from a variety of sources, which entails the accurate handling of an extensive volume of applications. Enters a significant amount of data in the automated consular system based on a sound knowledge of current IV laws, regulations and procedures.Exercises discretion and a high degree of professional responsibility in handling confidential/sensitive applicant information and documentation. Provides prospective applicants with information on general immigrant visa procedures and regulations on a wide array of visa enquires and provides interpretation and translation services as needed.
