I am a recent graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor's in Public Relations. I hope to use my degree to work for an organization that values corporate social responsibility and strongly emphasizes ethics. I gathered experience at my internship with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Vietnam, allowing me to practice and develop diverse skills. Working under the auspices of a federal U.S. agency focused on public health, which operates in over 50 countries, was an ideal opportunity as I aspire to pursue an international career.During my internship, I was involved in various activities, including leveraging social media for professional purposes, collaborating with international NGOs on HIV destigmatization projects, and leading professional workshops. Specifically, I worked closely with HAIVN (Health Advancement Vietnam), a local NGO that recently produced a study on HIV stigma. In this regard, I designed 20 social media posts and several infographics to support their findings. Additionally, I led two workshops to train local NGOs on project documentation and the use of Canva, a graphic design application.Moreover, I had the privilege of attending an international conference that deliberated on proposed legislation to safeguard the rights of members of the LGBTQ+ community in Vietnam. During this conference, I had the opportunity to engage with international Ambassadors, UN representatives, and Vietnamese government officials to discuss the challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community in the country and advocate for their protection against violence and inequality.My second internship was with the CDC Regional Southeast Asia office, where I worked directly with the communications team. I aided them in building a social media profile for each of the 11 countries that the department oversees. This involved researching media trends regarding the use of social media per demographic and breaking down data to gather information for my recommendations for a communication strategy. I wrote success stories of the regional office to be sent back to headquarters and published in a report and collaborated in editing and designing new material and infographics representing the regional office's work.
