Developed, collaborated, strategized and implemented youth leadership development programs through civic leadership that serves students from across 22 different high schools in Denver Public Schools. In six years I have led developed two solid programs: Student Board of Education (SBOE) and the Young African Americans Latinx Leaders (YAALL). While developing the Student Voice and Leadership (SVL) department at the district level. SVL work is designed and focused on providing training, experience and resources to DPS students to activate their civic leadership.

My position is with the DPS Office of Post-Secondary Readiness works to support strategies focused on expanding high quality student voice and leadership opportunities across DPS to increase student engagement. Student Engagement is measured by district goals to increase attendance, decrease dropout rates, increase graduation rates, and participation in extra and co-curricular activities. My work ties student voice and leadership opportunities for all students in secondary schools. My primary focus is to serve as a liaison between the Office of Postsecondary Readiness (OPSR), and the Student Board of Education representatives from each high school to increase student voice in the following three levels: Classroom, School, and District. The secondary work is to expand and create student voice and leadership opportunities to reach a larger number of students across DPS’ secondary schools through building intentional partnerships with community organizations. I work in close collaboration with the Board of Education to ensure meaningful ways for students to provide input into major school and district level community dialogues to impact school reform and policy.
