AmbassadorSap Africa Code Week Sep 2016 - PresentKampala, UgandaDespite the challenges caused by COVID-19, in 2020 we organized Africa code week equipping teachers and volunteers with creative computing skills required to train students during Africa Code Week which happened from October till December 2020 and also prepared children aged 8 to 17years for AfriCan Code Challenge -a continent wide coding competition. In 2019, I headed the trainers who implemented Africa Code Week in Uganda during the period September to November 2019. We reached out to schools, vocational institutions and public universities in different regions of Uganda. I prepared the content which was used to train the trainers who carried out school visits equipping children with ICT innovation skills required to thrive in the 21st century workforce.Africa Code Week is an initiative in its sixth year of implementation and has the goal of empowering future generations with the coding tools and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century workforce and become key actors in Africa’s economic development. In its first five years running, the initiative has been able to engage over 6 million youth and trained over 50,000 teachers across Africa on digital learning curriculum. It takes an empowered village to raise a child in the digital age: Africa Code Week is instilling digital literacy and coding skills in the young generation, working closely with private, public and non-profit partners to drive sustainable learning impact across Africa. -
