Over the last 20-odd years, I've built a resume atop pillars of grassroots organizing, community building, search engine optimization, web design, social media and paid online marketing, having learned from among the most talented grassroots organizers and nonprofit leaders, founding and/or directing a few nonprofits myself and (on top of writing epic run-on sentences) eventually putting all of those skills toward starting and growing my own business, (still going) before launching a passion project to try and use my skill set for societal good.The first project (Ancient Greek History Nexus) in this new venture aims to begin filling some of the vacuum left by larger supposedly educational programming channels (like how The History Channel now broadcasts misinformation and conspiracy garbage like 'Ancient Aliens') with shorter form documentary videos that both entertain and inform, as well as being a nexus where people can find links to other sources of content across the web.Launching with a focus on ancient Greek history, if we earn enough support to grow, we'll expand into other areas of educational programming (perhaps history of India, the Inca, Egypt or everything to do with outer space); using what we learn in our first effort to build niche nexuses (I really want the plural of nexus to be 'nexii', but alas...) where we can provide more quality educational content.Notable Experience:I've managed budgets ranging from pocket change to over six hundred thousand dollars, personally raised funds by the dollar, to six figure checks from billionaires. I'll readily admit that I don't know how to network and get meetings with deep pocketed strangers, but get me in the door and I'll do the rest.I've organized, promoted and recruited volunteers to staff and/or manage countless meetings and events with three to thousands of people. I've recruited, hired, fired, trained and managed a paid staff as large as 15, along with hundreds of volunteers, offices in two cities, phone banking, boothing and door knocking campaigns that built a membership sixty two thousand strong in under six months, all while registering nearly 12,000 voters.My strengths lie in technology-enhanced personal engagement tactics, both online (social media, with a particular strength in Twitter, Facebook, SEO and blogging) & offline, at the grassroots level - volunteer recruiting/management, event organization, outreach & guerrilla style marketing that squeezes the most ROI as possible out of limited budgets.
