Solomon Vaughn, better known by his stage names Boonie Mayfield and Boon Doc, started off as an aspiring rapper in his hometown of Colorado Springs, CO in 2001. While teaching himself how to produce his own beats, Boonie rose to internet stardom in the early days of YouTube garnering millions of views as one of the pioneers of homemade beat making videos. His early years of sample-heavy hip-hop later progressed to learning multiple instruments and finding his own genre-bending sound. Boonie’s extensive catalogue consists of many styles including: hip-hop, funk, soul, electronic, psychedelic rock, blues, jazz, pop, cinema and comedy. Boonie later reconnected with his childhood dream of acting after moving to Los Angeles in 2015. While attending an acting class, Boonie produced his first musical comedy short film, Ho Ho Ho (A Bad Santa Carol), a precursor to the development of Boon TV. He also landed roles in Sizzle—a live sketch-comedy show in the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival—and a national Doritos commercial for Adult Swim.As a composer, Boonie Mayfield has produced multiple solo albums and over a dozen volumes of royalty-free sample loops. His Boonie Tunes sound libraries have been used by many producers and artists including Dave East, Mary J. Blige and the soundtrack for 2019 film, Queen & Slim. Balancing his career as an independent artist and entrepreneur, Boonie now currently lends his extensive knowledge and experience as a Music Production Career Advisor at a large private college in Los Angeles.
