Each Quarter, I facilitate 4-6 courses in Spanish on topics related to business planning, financing and accounting, and/or marketing. During and after the courses, I provide coaching and feedback to clients as relevant to course content as well as connect them to other SBS services

San Francisco De La Palmera, Costa Rica

My primary work activities consisted of supporting women, entrepreneurs, and youth in the community improve their skills in order to increase their ability to enter the work force and create self-sustainable economic opportunities. After a 3-month diagnostic period, utilizing participatory analysis for community action tools, we assessed not only community needs, but resources as well. Aside from the technical knowledge addressed through courses, trainings, and business consultations, I infused empowerment aspects to complement the skills they were learning. In addition to vocational training, I also addressed topics concerning leadership, health, and environment for youth.

Houston, Texas Area

My time at Accion (now LiftFund) was my first hands on exposure to community development financial institutions (CDFI). I had the opportunity to learn and understand the complete micro-loan cycle from the initial application, through analyzing and approving a client, to counseling that new client through financial education that would benefit their business. Working alongside different peers, I was able to provide business counseling through both one-on-one appointments and larger scale events. After assisting in the coordination of several of these events, I led the coordination of the first Spanish-speaking seminar for small business owners in the East Texas and Houston area.

- Organized and ensured logistical efficiency in order to run the retreat’s outdoor activities- Led and facilitated an urban community outreach program, this program allowed children (ages 7-16) to grow and develop their social skills within their community as well as bridge relationships with their peers - Able to enthuse and empower the children by connecting and relating to their hardships and personal experiences
