I am a motivated research professional with several years of experience in Molecular Cell Biology, and Biochemistry Research and worked on the role of micronutrients especially redox active metals (Iron and Copper) in anemia, thalassemia, hemochromatosis and Wilson disease respectively. Presently, I am working as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Biochemistry, AIIMS Kalyani, India. I had extensive training in research and laboratory technology, starting with BSc MLT in IGMC Shimla followed by Masters in Biochemistry at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh where I worked on folic acid uptake and transport mechanism during folate over-supplementation model to understand birth defects (Dev et al, BJN 2011). I continued my work on understanding the role of iron and Cu in my doctoral (Dev et al, FRBM 2016) and postdoctoral (Dev et al, Science Advances 2022, Hepatology 2020, co-authored several publications in Hepatology 2019, American Journal of Hematology 2019, American Journal of Pathology 2022, PNAS 2023 & Blood 2023) training. I got training from JNU for 6 year and postdoctoral training from Harvard-MGH and Johns Hopkins Medicine for 7 years to understand pathogenesis of anemia, b-thalassemia hemochromatosis, and Wilson disease. I have vast expertise in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology techniques, transgenic mice generation and working on murine (disease) models. I have 16 indexed publications, 1 Book chapter, an h-index 12 with more than 1000 citations. In AIIMS, I focussed my research on understanding role of metals in medicine especially hemoglobinopathies, neurodegenerative disorders and WD and imparting clinically oriented and interactive teaching for biomedical and paramedical students apart from routine clinical biochemistry & molecular services and validation.
