Soma managed all major and minor engineering issues (mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation) on-site at the extremely fast-track Bundamba Recycled Water Project, the largest recycled water scheme in Australia, where a 25mgd plant was planned, designed, built, and commissioned in a span of just two years. This project was a design-build (EPC) alliance, which required no barriers between the contractor (Thiess Pty. Ltd.) and the design team (Black & Veatch). With a grueling 90-hrs/week work schedule, Soma handled all site RFIs; directed rapid design and delivery of outstanding items through off-shore design teams spread in Mumbai, Singapore, Kansas City, China, and the UK on a round-the-clock execution schedule; issued site instructions to enable construction; identified nonconformance situations and followed through quality issues to resolution; assisted in procurement contract management to ensure timely delivery of all equipment; and supported all phases of commissioning.
