About Somer Bingham

Somer Bingham is a music producer, songwriter & composer based in Brooklyn, NY, whose music has been featured in national television shows and feature films. In 2019, she composed score and original music for the British indie film "Transference," which has been selected for film festivals across the world. That year she was also chosen by the Brooklyn Silent Film Festival as Winner for Best Collaboration after composing an original score and performing live to a viewing of the silent short film “La Pescadora” (Dir. Edu Lavandeira). In 2012, Somer's gutsy, punk-edged performance style and authenticity led to being cast on Showtime’s docu-reality series "The Real L Word," where the lesbian community got to know her as relatable and uncompromising, with lots of spunk & a goofy sense of humor. Showtime chose Somer as the host of a weekly video blog to accompany the series, calling it “Somer Fridays.” With over 2 million views, it addressed topics as important as coming out and as entertaining as “lesbian terminology,” the web series showcased Somer’s honesty, intelligence, humor, and creative insight. Somer also is the front-woman and songwriter for the grunge band Clinical Trials and the electro pop duo MNR PLSR. MTV music blog described Clinical Trials as "Like Elastica with extra vitriol and a dash of grandeur;" the sound is fueled by punk and tinged with sexuality. With pop-sensibility and a flair for production, MNR PLSR was formed with Emily Einhorn (aka Kid Hawk) over late-night message board love for Major Lazer and Sia. After binge-watching Showtime's Penny Dreadful, they penned an original apocalyptic love song, "Last Light," which served as the soundtrack for the behind-the-scenes montage after the final season of the show. Between both projects and her own solo music, Somer's songs have been licensed by HBO, The CW, Netflix, Showtime, Viceland, Playboy, NBC, TNT, CNN, Red Bull and TLC.
