Lead NMR laboratory operation and internal research to develop integrated workflows to evaluate rock properties for both conventional and unconventional formations:• Real time NMR monitoring for CO2 and natural gas injection EOR in tight rocks• NMR integrated workflow for fluid saturation analysis in SCAL Consult and develop joint research collaboration between industry and academia in petrophysical systematics, rock-fluid interaction, hydraulic fracturing, machine learning application

Responsible for conducting multi-discipline research on organic rich shales and other conventional rocks. This includes unconventional petrophysical characterization, developing a new technique to measure kerogen density, infrared based organic thermal maturity indices, conducting hydrous pyrolysis to understand hydrocarbons generation and expulsion during maturation, designing Brazilian tensile failure test under confinement, hydraulic fracturing experimentCurrent experiment-based research: • Multicomponent flow mechanism in nano-porous media• Drive mechanisms of miscible gas injection for EOR in tight rocks• High pressure diffusion for nano-porous media using NMR-Infrared monitoring system• Hydrocarbon visibility in NMR as a function of temperature• High pressure-high temperature fluid phase transition for gas injection• High pressure-high temperature adsorption test for micro-porous media using Magnetic Suspension Balance• Fracture propagation in discontinuous media / layered rock configuration• Rapid and automatic scanning tools (XRF, LIBS, acoustic scanner) and inversion software to evaluate elemental and mineralogic variations in core• Eagle Ford, Permian, and Meramec large scale petrophysical systematics

Infrared based indices for thermal maturity in organic shales

Create new scheme to assign petrophysical – geomechanical stratigraphy to understand the relation between reservoir heterogeneity and aerial production in the Eagle Ford Black Hawk field. Geomechanical quality will be considered for better completion design and better recovery.

Develop rapid assessment technologies in well site to real-time evaluate formations.

Evaluated rapid techniques (X-Ray Fluorescence, Reflection Infrared Spectroscopy, and Spectral GR) to assess source rock and reservoir rock qualities, led to fast and better decision during horizontal drilling and completion. Studying geochemistry analyses, including gas chromatography and isotope analysis techniques to evaluate organic matter in source rock across a maturity gradient.
