Dr. Sonia Coman has over 10 years of experience in strategic communications, content strategy, audience engagement, and brand consulting, working with diverse and global clients in the arts, culture, and business sectors. She is the Director of Digital Engagement at Washington National Cathedral, where she leads the institution's digital transformation. She is also a member of the core team of The World Innovation Network (TWIN), a network of networks for Fortune 500 CEOs, serial entrepreneurs, and innovators, where she advises on visual content strategy. Previously, she led the Marketing and Communications team at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art as Audience Engagement Strategist.Dr. Coman is passionate about bridging the gap between business strategy, history, and the arts. She has a PhD from Columbia University, where she brought social network analysis to bear on a transcultural art study. Dr. Coman is the co-author of the book, New Directions in Organizational and Management History, and the co-editor of the De Gruyter Series in Organizational and Management History. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of Brill's Journal of Japonisme. In 2023, she received the Outstanding Leadership Award at the Marketing 2.0 Conference. Dr. Coman is also a published and award-winning haiku poet and a visual artist with a record of international solo and group shows.
