Sonia has been a recording artist and session vocalist since the tender age of 7 yrs old and has laid down her melodies and harmonious voice on well over 30 albums.
Sonia’s debut in the UK Bhangra industry was with DJ Senator with tracks Naina and Kulli on the album No Way Out. Her biggest success rose from being the first artist to cover Chitra Singh’s ‘Charkha Mera Rangla’.
Sonia has collaborated over the years with some of the finest producers across a multitude of genres; Dub giants Alpha&Omega, World Music Producers The Dhol Foundation and DJ SWAMI, MBE Kuljit Bhamra, Djinn Choudhry, Punjabi Hit Squad, Phat Kat & Ajay Srivastav. More recently EDM DJ producer, Yomi Singh, 2NV & Sahib G.
Sonia is now seen performing live as the lead vocalist of UK’s Punjabi folk band, Team Sur Sangeet. Other live band collaborations include Flute That Groove, The 515 Crew and The Mehfillers.
Sonia’s passion for songwriting has also side-lined her singing career. Her first penned Hindi song ‘Sapno Mei’ in collaboration with Ital Lion and Alpha& Omega, became a major hit in the world of Dub. ‘Dil Ki Baatein’ was next composed and written by Sonia for Chirag Rao & The 515 Crew.‘Butterfly’ , Hindi song, was penned as a creative abstract piece to represent women and girls around the world in suppression. This song featured as part of her being selected to represent the Uk, in the Grid Heritage Project, curated by SOAS professionals and exhibited both in UK & Delhi.Sonia’s first penned and composed Punjabi Romantic Song ‘Haal ve Rabba’ released in 2023.Since 2020, Sonia has continued to release her own music, collaborating across the globe, as well as returning to the hot seat as a song composer, arranger and producer; where she is focussing on developing her musical career.
