Skipper Otto Community Supported Fishery is an innovative solution for home cooks to source premium, wild seafood directly from independent, Canadian fishing families. Skipper Otto is on a mission to keep small-scale fishing alive in Canada, protect our valuable ocean resources, and ensure everyone has access to traceable, sustainably-caught, west coast seafood.My role as CEO is to lead business development, strategy, vision, and long-term future planning for the company, along with building, supporting and nurturing the team.

The Local Catch SAIL Mentorship Program will partner a mentor from a mature, stable, direct seafood business with a mentee from an earlier stage, start-up, direct seafood business with the goal of supporting the newer organization with experience and systems as it moves toward long-term stability, resilience, and business maturity.The mentorship program is designed to build capacity and resilience of the participating businesses. Mentors will not only receive coaching on building important operational, finance, marketing, and HR components of their businesses, they will also be guided through a metacognitive process by which they will build capacity to perform strategic planning, goal setting, assessment, and reflection, with support in year one, so that they are prepared to continue this work on their own in future years.
