This situation prevents stakeholders from truly efficient collaboration, creates reliance on manual processes, and lacks door-to-door visibility and transparency from a customer point of view. The initiatives defined and driven by IATA aim to address these challenges, by leading the industry with end-to-end supply chain collaboration on the development of innovative technologies, streamlined processes, and global standards. IATA's vision is to achieve a fully digitally connected and integrated air cargo supply chain.“When something goes wrong, it takes time to get information”. Air cargo customers demand greater end-to-end visibility and real-time information about their shipments. The demand for such capabilities is exploding due to the growth of e-Commerce. Online retailers and shoppers need and want to know where their shipments are at any time. The Interactive Cargo project aims at developing responsive air cargo services based on intelligent systems that are able to self-monitor, send real-time alerts, respond to deviations to meet customers' expectations, and report on the cargo journey to allow data-driven improvements. As the Project Manager Interactive Cargo, I lead and drive the Interactive Cargo Task Force to develop a set of standards to:- simplify the complex approval process of connected devices,- identify and harmonize the data elements to be captured,- and define a framework related to the ownership and usage of such data.
