Being a part of Lewis Energy Group has helped broaden my knowledge and skill set in the area of human resources. As HRBP, I support various business units in the areas of talent management, employee relations, training and development, and other HR functions.In March 2015, I was given the opportunity to learn a new function, Workers' Compensation. Initially I had no background in risk management, but have slowly developed knowledge in this area. I work closely with our HSE business unit, as well as the insurance companies we work with. My main focus in this role is making the first report of injuries, case management, and managing light duty personnel until they are released back to full duty.

Administer policies relating to and serves as the key business partner with the business unit in all phases of human resources activity to include talent management, employee relations, training and development, information systems, and other human resources functions.

One of my main goals in my professional career was to work for a nonprofit organization. Why you ask? Well, I learned about the impact and meaningful purpose nonprofit organizations have during my internship with Laredo Morning Times. I also developed more of an interest during my graduate studies.Fortunately, in February 2009 I was given the opportunity to work for a wonderful nonprofit organization, STCADA. As the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and HR Director, I learned the administrative background of a nonprofit. My job duties ranged from assisting in board meetings, maintaining HR records, create/edit company material, assist in payroll processing, and assist in the logistics of planning company events.

As any communication major that recently graduates from the university, the first ideal job one would like to get is with the media. At least that was my goal to achieve.My wishful thinking became a reality when I landed my first full-time job with the city's local television station, KGNS-TV as a Creative Services Producer. This position opened my eyes to how the world of television works.In my role as Creative Producer, I worked closely with business owners/managers to create their commercial concept and script material. I was also involved with the script writing and voice overs for promotional spots. One of the major highlights of this job was to have the opportunity to host a two minute segment on Friday's called "​In the Kitchen."​ Every week we would feature a restaurant and spotlight their main dishes and show how it's made.
