I managed the research programme on the safety and safety assessment of genetically modified foods and provided policy support for GM foods and food supplement issues. I held two postdoctoral contracts, which involved co-ordinating a partnership of EU funded research into the accelerated testing of wood preservatives compared with longer term field tests - EU project "FACT" no. SMT4-CT96-2135. I also carried out half of the microbiological research within 2 of the 4 core tasks on this project.
