How can you get involved? There is a sustainable global war and we are all responsible for it. Part of this war is the constant fight against poverty. Especially for impoverished women and single moms are struggling to be self-reliant in finding a job or starting a business to be able to provide for their family. I was born poor from an uneducated single women and have to learn this principle at a very young age of 12 and I feel an expert in this area. Another part of this war is how much we waste. Did you know that American only wear 20% of the clothes that they own? Did you know that we waste almost 70 lbs. of fabrics per household, per year in US? The purchases of fashion has increased a 5% in the last year, we use less and waste more, as a result our landfills are getting bigger and bigger. Only a year ago, I created an ethical social enterprise fashion model called Olanova that reduces the number of waste while helping women become self-reliant. 5 steps:People donate to us their slightly or new clothes and home fabrics (we will start accessories, plastic, metal etc. in 2014) Olanova hires impoverished local seamstresses, who from the donated pieces, they will re-create them into new affordable fashion for everyone: kids, teens, man and for woman of all sizes. Then Olanova sells the clothes online store and fashion shows. From the sales and donations that we received we are able to provide jobs and give them sewing machines. When women reach confidence and self-reliance. They become powerful and want to help others in need. The Olanova cycle of life is incomplete without you!
