After nearly two decades of progressive engineering and project leadership experience, Matei's Entrepreneurial spirit propelled him to complete the acquisition of Sonic Enclosures Ltd, a 45+ year old (as of 2012) privately held company specializing in producing pre-fabricated modular enclosures for industrial equipment servicing Canada's Oil & Gas, Mining, Marine, Renewable Energy sectors and most recently the fast growth sector of Modular Data Center / Edge Computing / Crypto Currency.Matei holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, is a registered Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional. Matei has had a successful track-record of delivering complex projects on-time and on budget both domestically and internationally (Milwaukee USA, Beijing CHINA, Rugby UNITED KINGDOM, Camarillo USA) in a variety of sectors (Automotive / Military / Clean Tech / Industrial Plants) and takes a great deal of pride in leading and building high performance teams.In September of 2014 Matei was named one of Business in Vancouver's Top Forty under 40, in October of 2014 Sonic was awarded "The Best Big Business of the Year" from the Delta Chamber of Commerce and in October of the following year Matei was recognized with the Emerging Leader Award from the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association- honours that the entire Sonic Enclosures team are very proud of! Fuelled by his humble immigrant roots, Matei has proudly supported severable charitable causes most notably the highly publicized #JoeysWish Campaign (on behalf of the Children's Wish Organization) and has been one of the lead supporters to his alma mater's UBC Formula SAE racing team for over 6 years now. In his limited free time, Matei enjoys playing golf, perfecting recipes in the smoker while hosting friends and family and most of all wrenching on his motorized machines!
