I am a communications professional who specializes in digital editing, creative and technical writing, and HTML / XML text markup. Currently, I work for the British Columbia provincial government as a Digital Content Editor for the King's Printer. In this role, I work closely with the legislature and other clients to update and maintain the BC Laws website (bclaws.gov.bc.ca). This role requires meticulous attention to detail, clear and effective written communication, and strong organizational skills.Additionally, I work as a freelance writer and editor under the name Blockprint Writing. You can read my work in publications such as BC Bookworld and Offbinary. I help clients with projects that range from SEO-optimized articles to editing marketing newsletters. I have written and edited for industries and topics such as health and wellness, fashion, and self-improvement.I completed my graduate studies in the English Literature MA program at the University of Victoria where I honed my research, editing, and written communication skills. I also have my BA in English Literature, graduating with Honours and Distinction, and have a Minor in Applied Ethics. During my studies, I developed an array of professional interests such as research-based writing, digital humanities, coding for the web, philosophy, and copyediting. As an undergraduate student, I co-managed the Albatross English Undergraduate Journal and served as an executive on the English Students’ Association. I also worked as a Research Assistant for Digital Victorian Periodical Poetry (dvpp.uvic.ca) and as a Teaching Assistant for several undergraduate classes. I have over five years of writing and editing experience shaped by the precision, creativity, and organization that I cultivated in this academic environment.
