The GIZ project ‘Forest and Climate protection in Panay’ has supported the conservation of the last large contiguous natural forest area in the Central Panay Mountain Range on the island of Panay, Philippines. The project has applied a multi-fold approach on the local and national level. Local authorities, user groups and households were supported in applying land right instruments. With a focus on biodiversity conversation, ForClim has supported the designation of areas with highly endangered animal and plant species as “critical habitat” during the forest land-use planning process. To evaluate the impact of these protection measures on the population density of endangered species and on biodiversity, a spatial monitoring tool has been introduced. At the national level, the project has supported the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in meeting its commitments to the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Transparency International Zimbabwe is a non-profit, non- partisan, system-oriented local chapter of the international movement against corruption. The Policy, Legislation and Institutional Monitoring (PLIM) unit reviews various Zimbabwean policies and legislation to identify gaps within the framework and to ultimately make recommendations for the improvement and strengthening of the anti-corruption framework in Zimbabwe.
