About Sonya Gracey

I am white euro-settler cis queer of Irish and Austrian ancestry living on and benefiting from the unsurrendered Indigenous lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. I have worked in many roles over the last 25 years as a Registered Nurse, elected municipal councillor, adjunct professor, community leader and facilitator. I am currently focused on my role in unlearning and undoing interlocking systems of oppression and in relationships between people and across difference. I am lifelong student of principles of critical decolonizing anti-racism, cultural safety, harm reduction, trauma and violence informed care, principles of polyvagal and attachment theory as foundational approaches to my practice of being.
