Founder, Spy Pond EventsSonya Rooney Sonya Rooney is the founder of social and private events company, Spy Pond Events. With over 13 years of experience in the hospitality and events industry, she is dedicated to providing her clients with the creativity and support needed to ensure their events are a success. She grew up in the events industry in Ireland, where her family owned a bar, restaurant and function space.  She studied Hospitality and Catering Management and began her career by managing the family business.  She went to New York in 2000 and became the Assistant Director of Front Office at the Hilton, Tarrytown.  She worked at the noted Crabtree’s Kittle House in Chappaqua, NY for two years, assisting them with social events and parties for private clients and public figures. Sonya then worked at iStar Financial, as a Corporate Events Coordinator for three years. In 2006 Sonya started her own Events Consultancy/ Management Company - Spy Pond Events Company, during this time she was contracted by BongarBiz Entertainment, Innovative Creative Events, P & V Enterprise and Elizabeth Rose Consulting, to manage many aspects of their client events.  She has been involved with the special events industry and a member of ISES and MPI.In 2010 Sonya moved back to Northern Ireland, initially she had a temporary contract managing training events and seminars for the British Council, throughout the UK and Europe.
