Project: High throughput, rapid point of care screening of human colorectal cancer using next-generation sequencing (NGS) to identify mutations which will be used to formulate personalized precision treatment plans for patients. Orthogonal analysis: cross-check validity of sequencing with third-party technology such as mutational assays to test the validity of new diagnostic automation from sample to analysis.Trained in qPCR, ThermoFisher Qubit Fluorometric Quantitation, Agilent TapeStation, Biocartis Idylla Mutation Assay, and Genexus Next Generation Sequencing machines.

- Advocated for childhood cancer patients on a local, state, and national level by lobbying in the Texas Sendate and U.S. Senate in support of the bipartisan Childhood Cancer STAR Reauthorization Act and the Give Kids a Chance Act.- Attended monthly conference call with advocates around the country to discuss fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and the usage of outreach and press to give a voice to childhood cancer patients.

News Editor (December 2020 - May 2021). Led publication of ~50 writers, editors, photographers, and graphic designers in producing a quarterly print newsmagazine and daily online content. Wrote and edited multiple state and national award winning stories and magazine issues.

- Founded the non-profit dedicated to providing resources made by and for peers to help students excel on the Texas educational standards STAAR exam and to prepare them for academic success.- Created videos and YouTube channel covering mathematics and reading standards for 3rd graders.- Initiated registration as a 501(c)(3) organization.- Established partnership with the Houston Independent School District and Good Reason Houston.- Developed and designed the website www.staarpeers.org.- Winner of Griptape national foundation scholarship for $500 to support STAAR Peers' mission.

- Selected by the Superintendent as one of 10 students to represent and advocate for a district of ~200,000 students.- Engaged in discussion with elected officials, educators, parents, and administrators regarding federal, state, and local government action impacting the Greater Houston community.- Provided recommendations to the HISD legislation to be adopted by the Board of Education in order to empower unheard student voices and demand equitable education for every child.- Regularly met with HISD Superintendent and District Trustees to provide internal assessment of district wraparound services on a local level.

Project #1: Researched and classified deleterious and likely pathogenic RAI1 gene variants responsible for causing Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) in historical and recent literature and on gnomAD, ClinVar, and NORD. Created graphical representations of missense, disruptive, and conservative mutations using R programming (lollipop plot).Project #2: Created mental and emotional health survey questions as an addendum to existing SMS caregiver questionnaires to evaluate rates of depression and anxiety based on psychological concerns voiced in various caregiver forums with the purpose of improving research and directing caregivers to wraparound services.

- Conducted pediatric behavioral, intelligence, and attention-focused assessments as a framework for diagnosis of ADHD and ADD in patients.- Assisted in administering pediatric Russian-integrated bilingual intelligence and behavioral assessments of cognitive ability.- Recorded and quantified/qualified assessment data using software and manual statistical analysis.- Contributed to project research including literature search, management data collection, and patient care.
