Director, The Muse And The Marketplace Conference
Began as Assistant Director in 2015 before being promoted to Director in 2017. Accomplished the following:•Grew the nation’s premier annual writing conference from 80 sessions and 700 attendees to 130 sessions and 1000+ attendees; innovated new DEIB-focused programs; raised a record $350,000 annually.•Curated and recruited 150+ speakers each year, including guest authors, literary agents, editors, and publishing innovators. Worked with each presenter to shape their sessions and meet the conference’s goals. Created the 3-day conference’s schedule of 130 sessions, 600 agent meetings, 3 large parties, and 3-5 additional events. •Hired, trained, managed, and evaluated a team of 8 staffers to plan and support the conference.•Closely tracked all data—including income and expenses, deadlines, contacts, registrations, outreach, outreach initiatives, marketing campaigns, and troubleshooting efforts—and used this data to make agile, strategic decisions. •Spearheaded the organization’s Inclusion Initiative by creating a Writers of Color deck of sessions and growing it each year. Increased scholarship funds each year for attendees who were of color, LQBTQ+, living with a disability, low-income, and/or under age 35. Increased representation of guest authors, literary agents, editors, and attendees of color every year.
