About Soo Han
I am a senior designer with 9 years of well-rounded professional experience from New York City as a job captain, lead senior project designer, and project architect/technical drafter for a diverse range of hospitality, commercial, residential, civic, and mixed-use projects. I graduated Class of 2015 from Virginia Tech’s Architecture + Design program with a Bachelor of Architecture and Minor in Industrial Design Cum Laude Honors with a thesis on ‘Facadism’.Through my professional tenure at firms ranging from boutique A&E to commercial design firms, I have developed an eclectic and multifaceted array of skills. With a majority of my experience being in interiors architecture, I have worn many hats carrying out both lead design and technical roles for various project typologies working in close collaboration with clients and consultants through all phases—test-fits, concept design, DD, CD, CA, FF&E and specifications, custom millwork packages, custom signage and wayfinding packages, VR coordination, Landmark approvals, Public Assembly documents, Local Law 11 set, and civil drawings. My layered background extends beyond architecture into interior design curation, graphic design, and fine arts commissions. I believe my diverse experience greatly contributes to my comprehensive understanding and integrated approach to architectural design strategies. Further, I am eager to incorporate focused sustainbility practices into my architectural work, in coordination with urban design.I collaborate meticulously with my teams, maintaining an approachable attitude to achieve high standards of production. My keen eye is a product of my analytical and detail-oriented nature. I believe to become a successful designer in architecture it’s important to not only study architecture, but also various arts and other disciplines—architecture is not confined to the walls, roof, and floors, but it encompasses the full experience from each singular moment of a graphic, art, or furniture piece in a room to the vast site and urban context.
