Soobaek is CIO (Chief Information Officer) / CSO (Chief Security Officer) / Senior Vice President of Engineering at Yogiyo (Wesang), the 2nd largest food delivery service provider in Korea.Prior to Yogiyo, he was Chief Information Officer at Coupang, the fast growing e-commerce in Korea, managing ISPT (Information, Systems, Platform Technology) organization which includes Cloud Platform, Engineering Productivity Platform, SRE, Data Platform, and Corporate IT.Soobaek's best interest is adopting right technologies and enable developers and operators to work most effectively.Before joining Coupang, Soobaek was a Corporate Vice President in Mobile division at Samsung Electronics. He was the head of Global Service (Site) Reliability Engineering who managed 50+ services on multiple clouds; AWS, CGP, Azure, and on-premise by leading system operation teams from 7 other oversea R&D centers. Soobaek also led AI Server Development group that drove the efficiency and effectiveness of server platform for AI services. Prior to Samsung, Soobaek Jang was an Executive IT Architect (Senior Certified) in Advanced Cloud Solutions, IBM. He built architectures for cloud solutions; mainly for cloud management platform but also other integration architecture for services and offerings. Soobaek also managed a development team that is globally distributed. He was also a Chief Architect for Enterprise Private Cloud responsible for building architecture for an enterprise private cloud for large enterprise customer. Applying IBM's Cloud Computing Reference Architecture to customer's business and cloud infrastructure - building a foundation of cloud management system which serves for IaaS for immediate need but building for extension to PaaS and SaaS. The project serves both server cloud and desktop cloud solution. Mr Jang has been also focusing on building competitive IBM Platform-as-a-Sevices(PaaS) with two PaaS offering projects. Prior to PaaS effort, Soobaek has led a development team where the outcome of project has become a base of IBM’s first public Cloud offering worldwide. Mr. Jang has led teams of development and architected various solutions and integration of large and sub systems. Mr. Jang has over 20 years of experience in various IT area from mainframe based finance applications to emerging technologies used building IBM’s cloud offering.
