    In my dissertation, I ethnographically examine immigrants’ fight for the right to the city. Through the relationships between constructions of space and production of power through a transnational, urban, and visual theoretical frame, I show how the transnational urban space of Koreatown is seen, experienced, and most importantly, socio-politically used and harnessed by various actors. I theorize that urban communities comprised heavily of immigrant and non-citizen stakeholders build local political capital by claiming the neighborhoods' visually and symbolically developed transnational cultural capital, as various political actors also seek to capitalize on the space.
