I am a queer and non-binary dancer, teacher, and choreographer committed to reshaping the dance world towards inclusivity of all genders, sexualities, bodies, and identities. In 2021, I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 3.5 years with my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Colorado State University. I began my training at the age of two, honing my ballet, hip hop, contemporary, modern, jazz, musical theatre, heels, improvisation, and choreography skills throughout my childhood.I began my undergraduate studies at Colorado State University in 2018. I refined my ballet and modern technique while further developing my choreography and teaching skills. I performed in over 30 student, faculty, and guest artist pieces and had the opportunity to work directly with Complexions Dance Company founder Dwight Rhoden to restage and perform his contemporary ballet work Across The Universe.At CSU, I began to explore how I could utilize my unique contemporary and hip hop choreographic style to discuss, evaluate, and educate on social justice issues. As a lesbian and non-binary dancer, I inspire audiences to reflect on the multifaceted injustices in our society. My dance for film piece, Blessed Be the Fruit, was showcased at Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance Dance is Activism Film Festival in 2021. I am an avid teacher around Fort Collins. I am the primary hip hop teacher at Impulse Dance and Fitness, an adult only studio that cultivates a safe and inclusive space for dancers of all backgrounds to explore movement. I teach hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, progressions, jazz, and musical theatre of all ages at competition dance studio Studio West Dance Center. I prioritize educating my students on the history and impact of each style to create a holistic understanding of the movement being explored. I work to break the gendered, racial, and heteronormative structural biases historically embedded in the dance classroom to allow all students to feel safe, both physically and emotionally, while investing in movement. I have also worked closely with MusEffect Dance Company and continue to train at Block 1750, The Lab Studios, Millennium, and Playground LA.This year, I am moving to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career as a commercial dancer with an emphasis on performing and creating contemporary, hip hop, and jazz work. I hope to continue my education by completing a master degree in choreography and will continue to use my authentic movement style to generate pieces of art that reflect the ever evolving political and social climate of our society.
