After splitting up our content team, I was given the responsibility of running our live events schedule, alongside my marketing and social media duties.In this new role, I am in charge of sourcing all the content for our in-person conferences – as well as creating the copy, social assets, marketing strategy and managing the website.

Working as a journalist, I am finding interesting stories from those within the industry, and turning them into educational and entertaining group sessions from which people can learn.I also get to work with the best team ever - so you should go check them out too!

At Manchester Wire, I ran the social media channels, with a heavy focus on engagement and growth. Running the Instagram Monday-Sunday, and Facebook and Twitter Friday-Sunday, I was able to generate a 98% growth rate in following, and a 396% engagement increase. Not too shabby, eh?I also worked as the food editor until around September - producing a fortnightly food guide for one of Manchester's coolest publications, as well as bits of editorial here and there. As a big foodie, and a huge lover of the city, this allowed me to extend my portfolio and dine around some of the best places in Manchester. Unfortunately, having this role as well as the social media manager role, and another full-time job, just wasn't sustainable, and I burned out pretty quick. Bloody fun though!

Working on a top secret community for growth-minded marketers...Very much applying my knowledge of feature writing, my job in this role is to sniff out interesting stories from those within the marketing industry, and turn them into written content and educational sessions for the community.

AFTR PRTY is one of my favourite publications that I've worked for. Curating a myriad of popular culture content, my main purpose for the company is to create and maintain the 'sustainable living' series, in which I explore how people can make small changes in their life to become more sustainable; whether this is by exploring eco-friendly fashion brands, or through dietary and lifestyle advice. I am allowed total freedom on the content I choose to create, and this has proven very successful, having written some of the sites highest-grossing articles. Getting used to a different time schedule has been tough, but it has its perks with deadlines!

Social media scheduling, instagram stories, souring content, community management, influencer outreach - all that jazz. A very valuable skill to have in the industry, so I am very grateful that I was able to have some practice on this. It gave a much better understanding of analytics too, which is incredibly important in measuring success.

I interned here for a year, and impressed the team so much they offered me a job! At I Love Manchester, I worked predominantly on advertorial content, and I was involved in a lot of liaison with clients. However, I was also able to write a few features of my own, which I remain very proud of to this day.This was a great opportunity for 19-year-old me, and I still have strong bonds with a lot of the people I met here.
