I am a student contributor for the University of Georgia's publication, the Red & Black. I attend weekly meetings where I pitch ideas, write stories, and work with my editor and co-contributors. I have learned how to properly write in AP-style, how to conduct interviews, how to meet deadlines, and how to work in a fast paced newsroom environment.

My freshman year at UGA I spent 8 months cold-calling alumni to solicit donations. This position honed my customer service skills as many of the alumni were not excited to receive my call. I learned how to gain rapport and turn an awkward call with an angry or frustrated alumnus into a financial donation for UGA. This position required persistence and confidence in spite of low odds of receiving a donation. I learned the importance of being a good listener and keeping a positive attitude in a sometimes uncomfortable environment.

My responsibilities at Cremalosa included making and serving alcoholic beverages, serving gelato, and answering detailed questions about ingredients and the memorization of menu items. Customer service and customer relations were important especially when the store was busy and I had to manage several tasks simultaneously. I was also responsible for closing the store which included cashing out and managing money.
