As a transplant unit intern, I had the responsibility to design and implement an improved scheduling system for endoscopies. My responsibilities included the following:• Researched the hospital’s current scope scheduling system as well as the background of other hospital’s scheduling systems with a Transplant Department• Shadowed the Endoscopy Technician during multiple procedures for a better understanding of the overall scope process and witnessed how the scheduling system worked• Met with key personnel in the transplant unit to gather more information about their specific role in the scheduling process and listened to their opinions and frustrations about the current system• Designed and implemented the Pediatric Endoscopy Request Template into Medstar’s IT system, MedConnect• Analyzed the quantitative and qualitative data to determine the template was successful

During her Child Life Practicum, I completed 120 hours and was responsible for facilitating the normal growth and development of pediatric patients. My responsibilities included the following:• Developed a vast knowledge in medical terminology and illnesses through daily research and interviewing medical professionals• Assisted in medical teachings of children’s diagnoses by creating a safe, therapeutic play environment• Supported patients and families in their adjustment to hospitalization
