Collaborated with a PhD student and other researchers to manage the feeding and mating of over 20,000 fall webworms (Hyphantria cunea) for a reciprocal transplant experiment. Performed a literature review to complete an independent research project and drafted a final paper on the genetic and environmental factors affecting melanism in the fall webworm.

Poitiers, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Conducted DNA extraction and qPCR analyses to look for a tissue tropism of the Wolbachia parasite in pill bugs (Armadillidium vulgare) with Dr. Romain Pigeault, using dissection skills. Completed an independent research project and final paper on the relative quantity of Wolbachia in pill bugs, by performing a literature search and reviewing primary sources.

Crested Butte, Colorado, United States

Conducted flower counts and pollinator sampling at high elevation field sites with Dr. Ruben Alarçon and a team of PhD students and peer researchers. Found, mapped, set up, and sampled 25 dandelion plots for future research projects by Dr. Alarçon and other scientists. Completed a Rocky Mountain Ecosystems course, which covered topics such as local flora, fauna, and the impact of topography on environments.Proposed an independent research project/paper to RMBL Science Director and presented final research to PI’s, graduate students, and peer researchers. Topic: relative fly abundance at Virginia Basin.
